ZebraRadar Zines are about myself, ZebraRadar aka Ziba Zehdar.
BTW ZebraRadar was my AOL Instant Messenger screen name from 1997-2017!
I started making zines unknowingly in 2006 when I started keeping a scrapbook to visually keep track of my lifetime experiences (before Instagram existed!) I was 24 yrs. old (born in 1982) when I started my scrapbook of three years documenting my life (up until 2009.)

When did you start making zines ... and why?

In 2012 for the first annual LA Zine Fest I purchased a table for ThreeAmigosPress so that myself and two Long Beach Poly high school friends circa class of 2000, could table our zines. I had never made my own zine up until that point and realized I could scan in my scrapbook and print it out as my first zines ever, ZebraRadar Zines Vol.1 & Vol.2!

What is your favorite part of making zines?

The zen like nostalgia of creation. When I put aside time to create a zine I have already collected images that speak to me and therefore going through the images reminds me why I picked them. My scrapbook style cut and paste way of making zines is old school and that's how I like it.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start making zines?

Don't overthink it, just do it! Zine making doesn't have to be rocket science but it can be if you want it to be. Zines are whatever you want then to be so just get to it and do it. Zine are meant to be random, don't worry about it too much!
