Bright and colorful comic zines featuring very happy cartoons from my world On Planet Weird. I have a new step by step instructional zine on how to be a flight attendant, a coloring book, and a self-care zine. I also have Miley Cyrus and Mary-Kate and Ashley fanzines 🙂 .
I started making zines about two years ago. I really wanted a way to introduce my cartoons to the world and showcase their personalities. So I created my first A6 folded comic style zine in January of 2017 titled Skate or Die. I handed them out at local skate shops and left them in random stores around Los Angeles.
Definitely getting started on a new zine. Sometimes I will get a great idea and have all my pictures cut out and ready to go but I can’t figure out a way to lay it out in my head or tell the story the way I want. Eventually my brain figures it out and I make it happen.
When my ideas come together and the pages start to flow. I get into the zone and spend hours laying out the pages and adjusting the images the way I want. I also love when people pick up my zines at festivals and smile when they see my cartoons for the first time.
Get a big piece of paper... 11” by 17” and google “how to make a zine” and create a zine! It’s that easy. If you’re worried about your artistic abilities, make zines for you and you ONLY. You’d be surprised what you can create when you forget about what others might think. Oh yeah, and don’t expect to make money from zines. Zines are used to get an idea out into the world and are fun ways to meet and inspire new people.
