I think my favorite part of making zines has to be the free and self indulgent nature of creating something that is meant to be shared, but is really also for your own enjoyment. It's like a secret you get to share with others, or something really weird to say, just because you can. I can make a zine about worms, and in turn I can also make a zine about my cultural diaspora, and hope that either of those things reach the hearts of others! And I love that process of devoting so much time into literally whatever you want, and for it to take a unique form.
I think for me the heart of making and collecting zines is in its nature of accessibility, and that's something I've always really wanted to foster and encourage, because accessibility means connection. It's this exchange of knowledge and energy that I adore because it's so well intentioned! I love seeing how passionate people are about what they are trying to share.
