I love the production process and being surrounded by ink and paper. It's tedious but rewarding to go through all the collating, folding and binding and to come out of it with booklets that are 100% made by you. I love seeing the variety of work that exists out there. Zines are so personal and we are able to share and appreciate one another's work, which is really cool.
The zine community is one of my favorite parts of traveling and attending zine fests. It's unique and localized to each city but it's always growing and super accepting. It's great to be able to go to different zine fests and see what each community is all about, plus see what zines appeal to people in each of those events. That way you make connections over your artwork or content, and can get advice from other zinesters about publishing and creating.
