To share information & encourage dialogue around psychoactive plants and altered states. We hope to help break down some of the westernized taboos around psychoactive plants and their usage. By encouraging further research on Mesoamerican cultures who came before us and their usage of psychoactive plants in ceremonial rituals and practices.
Through our undergrad education we learned that prior to the colonization of the Americas there has been cultures that have utilized psychoactive plants for ceremonial rituals. Mesoamerican art works reflecting the homage of these psychoactive plants was our initial inspiration in creating our first zine. Specifically we were inspired by one of the relief panels depicts a shaman carrying the San Pedro cactus in The Sunken Circular Court in front of the Old Temple at Chavin de Huantar.
