How do zines help you relate/connect to others?

When you share a zine, it's like offering a little piece of who you are to whoever is interested. The format is cheap and extremely easy to digest, yet it may serve as some artifact that is treasured for years to come. I like sharing zines because it lets me know that people care and are willing to support what I create. On the flip, looking through zines of other artists lets me find likeminded artists, along with all different pieces of perspectives that add to my appreciation for diversity.

How do zines help you communicate your perspective?

I doodle a lot, and what ends up happening usually, is I get a bunch of strange faces and characters on page after page. Although I'd like to think there is some meaning to it all, often it is no more than a random assortment of lines. The zine format gets me to think of a slightly more cohesive series of things. This makes for work that is more substantial in its takeaway, and it's the reason zines are number one.
