In 2016, when I was just starting to make art, I made a series of collages - I wrote phrases from friends and teachers onto maps of a place I had visited. I liked thinking about them as a set, interacting with each other, like an book of road maps offering a different kind of directions - so I scanned them and made them into my first (and still most popular) zine.
I have been reading zines and teaching them in my gender studies class since the early 1990s, but didn't make my first zine until 2016, at the age of 51, and I tabled at my first zine fest in 2018. After attending many zine events over the years, it's been really fun to be on the other side of the table as a participant!
